Captains log..

Stardate 65437.6
Long time, no updates.
School and miscellaneous annoyances have done a great job of keeping me distracted. I'm currently working on a "analogue" harmonizer/octaver based on a phase locked loop. I'm aiming for a ridiculously high knob-count on this one. Maybe it's time to go modular..

The prototype circuit tracks the guitar surprisingly well and I'm sure tracking will be even better once I implement and test the complete circuit with more efficient signal conditioning.
Two parallel sections with independent controls will allow dual harmonies/octaves. E.g. a perfect 5th, two octaves up and a harmonic 7th, one octave down simultaneously.
I currently get square wave outputs but the plan is to extend the available waveforms. Using example circuits from the CMOS cookbook, I've been able to generate a 'sine' wave. The scope picture shows the raw output from the first trials. After low pass filtering the signal, the blocky stair steps disappear.
No scope photos of the current circuit, you'll have to take my word..

Raw digital 'sine' wave. Looks surprisingly good when LP-filtered.

Guitarist a bit out of shape and luck.

Crescendrive update..

Making some progress. About 8 months of development went into this thing.
Hopefully I'll get to build more of them to make it worthwhile.

Crescendrive update

Crescendrive overdrive update
Progress has been slow due to school and a lot of seemingly random mishaps.
The boards are now all finished and have passed (ACED!) final testing.
Next is stuffing the 1590DD enclosure with all of this stuff. It'll be a tight fit..

Plexiglasstopped Fuzzbox
Thought I'd post some pictures of my trekky plexiglass-technique..
The circuit is a tweaked clone of the 'Foxx Tone Machine', one of my first builds.
Sorry about the crappy cellphone-pics, it does look really good in person.

Breadbored

Work has been on hold for a while, since my computer violently died on me a while back. Though primarily traumatic and frightening, offline/"real"-life helped force me into doing more (still not anywhere near enough) of my LEAST favorite part of this hobby; drilling, sawing, measuring and painting enclosures..

I've experimented with a new finishing technique involving plexiglass.
Apart from improving the appearance of the effects I build, my main goal was making the finish bombproof and rugged enough to be kicked around.
If it's as durable as it seems to be, I'll be using this technique on future builds.
I'll have to do some more neanderthal-testing to make sure..

Since a laptop found it's way into my possession, work on the Crescendrive is once again under way. The buffering and routing is all laid out and I'm doing some final testing and tweaking. You simply can't own enough breadboards!
